Minister Farrakhan to Black Youth: Stop the killing!

In a prior post, I reported the on the Brookings Institute Report regarding the five keys to transitioning from poverty to middle-class:

The formula to being middle-class in America:

(1) graduate from high school;
(2) don't have children until after you get married;
(3) don't do anything that will land you in jail;
(4) don't acquire a drug habit; and
(5) have a decent work ethic. Americans who are chronically poor typically flunk three or more of these indicators.

With crisis like levels of black-on-black killings in Urban America, USA, another key should be added:

Avoid gun violence.

Wealth gap hits black families in U.S.: 12 Tips on Building Wealth

The median net worth — not income — of black families in the U.S. is less than $5,000 compared with more than $110,000 for comparable white families, said small business officials.
Democratic congressional members are emphasizing the economy cannot be rectified without helping the nation’s growing minority demographics lift themselves.
Sen. Mary Landrieu, D-La., who chairs the Senate Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship, said she has begun focusing on growing minority entrepreneurship for three years now, but that the problems are heightening despite expanded efforts of the U.S. Small Business Administration to reach out and educate more.

Magic Johnson opens school to give high school dropouts a helping hand

Now this is what I am talking about, Magic gets it: The Magic man not only knows how to invest and make money; he knows how to invest in our community.

 After reading about another athlete going broke -- Vince Young -- the following is music to my ears. Ironic, athletes that spend their loot on bling-bling seemed to go broke-broke; and, athletes that give back to the community seem to continue to prosper.

RGIII please take note!

 Basketball legend Magic Johnson has opened an education center in downtown Atlanta for high school dropouts.

Man allegedly kills himself, family, over paranoia about Obama re-election

To most folks outside of the Cult of the Right-Wing, apocalyptic propaganda bloviated by Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Glen Beck, Sarah Palin, Michele Bachman and the Fox Nation people is comic fodder.

We faithfully tune into Jon Stewart or Stephen Colbert to watch them mock the DCU (Daily Crazy Utterance)  In full possession of our intellectual, analytical and cognitive faculties, we are able to file their over-the-top rhetoric in its proper file -- the BS file.

However, far too many citizens of Fox Nation live in a bubble in-which this BS passes for the Holy Grail. In plain terms, they fervently believe the lies peddled to them from the Right-Wing cult leaders.

Yes, denizens of Fox Nation have an unwavering belief in the argument and philosophy of their leaders without critical examination.This Kool-Aid  drinking flock believes: If President Obama is elected he will ruin our country by bringing Nazi like socialism and Islamic sharia law.

HGP Quote of the Week:Michael Tomasky on the GOP’s Self-Delusion Syndrome

And finally, the last refuge of these scoundrels, bashing the librul media. Did you catch Rush Limbaugh’s pathetic rant on Tuesday after the famous blown interception call? Packer fans should just shake it off, he said, because the true aggrieved party is conservatives: “We’re lied about every day. The media gets it wrong on purpose against us every day. Now, I think it’s a good analogy.”

It’s a ridiculous analogy, and it’s not lies with which Limbaugh and Morris and their ilk are now coming face-to-face. It’s the truth. Americans like Barack Obama. They don’t like Mitt Romney. They really don’t like Paul Ryan. And they don’t want any part of the ideology of callousness and make-believe facts and pigheaded warmongering—and economic crisis and big deficits and all of that—that the Republicans are peddling. Of course these people will never come to terms with all that. But right now, boys, you’re running out of targets, and excuses. Read Entire Article

Maddow mocks Romney for wondering why airplane windows don’t open | The Raw Story

Air Romney
The Mitt Romney gaffe hit parade continues non-stop: Windows that roll down on a plane?

Apparently, he frequently fails to heed the sage advise of fellow Republican Abraham Lincoln:

"Better to remain silent and thought a fool than to speak out and remove all doubt."
Anyway, if you're in the mood for another Mittless chuckle follow the below link.

New Jersey Foreclosures Crisis: Chris Christie Not Using $300 Million In Federal Funds To Help Distressed Homeowners, WABC Reports

Gov. Christie sitting on 300 million relief funds
Tea Party folks and so-called conservative Republicans love to drone on and on, draped in the American flag, about their mom, apple pie, and baseball patriotism. They dispense their American Exceptionalism beliefs on every willing set of ears.

 To them, President Obama is anathema to American values -- to state it politely. In their eyes, Obama, as stated by Hank Williams Jr  -- between shots of Jack Daniels --. is a Muslim president who hates farmers, hates the military and hates the USA.

Wyclef Spills the Beans on Lauryn Hill Affair

Miss Hill
Ohh la la la la...the Fugees were my favorite Hip Hop group during the late-90's. They brought class, elegance, intelligence, substance, talent and mad creativity to the game.

This was in stark contrast to the one dimensional bling-bling coming from post-Biggie Smalls Bad Boy Entertainment.

And they were a much welcomed reprieve from the gangster-ism emanating from the Left-coast's Death Row.
