Limbaugh: Rushed outta town by fake news

Rush early in the week:

“There is a desire to advance this climate change agenda, and hurricanes are one of the fastest and best ways to do it. You can accomplish a lot just by creating fear and panic.”

"I explained how severe weather events are opportunities for big ratings boosts in the media and explained how it happens," he said. "I explained how severe weather events impact retailers and how some retailers are smart enough to coordinate advertising with television stations. It happens!"

Rush when Irma is knocking at his door:

"May as well announce this. I'm not going to get into details because of the security nature of things, but it turns out that we will not be able to do the program here tomorrow," Limbaugh said on his Thursday radio show. "We'll be on the air next week, folks, from parts unknown."

Rush flees.

After spending last week ranting and opining about how hurricane media coverage is a left-wing hoax hatched by climate change liberals, media in search of ratings and retail stores seeking profits from panicked shoppers, Limbaugh packed his bags and left his Palm Beach, Florida residence -- and radio studio -- in a NYC second.

Rush's middle finger to his audience.

Rush displayed total disdain and disregard for his listeners by telling them, at their peril, to ignore hurricane warnings by media: he essentially called Hurricane Irma coverage fake news.

Sometimes his incessant blabbering is just background news -- particularly now that Rush is more than a decade past his "hey day" of conservative relevance -- but with his massive following from the over 65 year old ditto heads in states like Florida, his fake news proclamation perilously dangerous.

There oughta be a law against this reckless speech.

Follow Up: Utah nurse arrested by rogue cop.

Salt Lake City police apologized Friday for arresting a nurse who, citing hospital policy, refused to let officers draw blood from an unconscious crash victim.
The arrest of Alex Wubbels, who was later released without charge, was captured on body camera video that the police chief said was alarming.
The incident happened July 26, when a crash victim was admitted to the University of Utah Hospital burn unit in a coma. Though the man was not a suspect in the wreck, which killed the other driver, police asked for his blood to be drawn.
For my friends of a lighter hue, file this under:

First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Socialist.
Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Trade Unionist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Jew.
Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.
As a person of color, a minority often targeted by rogue authorities, this case of police overreach by the Salt Lake City police force, was not a bit surprising to me.
No sir.
After decades of being judge, jury and executioner in black and brown communities (operating with impunity) -- and in the era of backlash against a black man residing at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. and now with the consent of #45 -- rogue cops feel emboldened and above-the-law.
As we suffered.
In fact, many in mainstream America, label BLM, an organization created to combat police brutality, a terrorist organization. BLM is defined by the most extreme outliers and not the thousands upon thousands of peaceful followers.
Dangerous thugs and criminals...
This is the common justification uttered to explain away the actions of abusive cops. This is code for: They got what they deserved. Travon Martin, slayed down on the sidewalk by a stalking neighborhood watchman, got his just desserts. Eric Garner, on the wrong side of the law for selling cigarette loosies, was choked out for failing to properly comply. Philando Castile scared a cop -- he smelled weed in his car -- so bang, bang, bang.

What does it mean?

With little or no accountability, no mainstream America outcry or condemnation, and no judicial punishment, many police began to further abuse the use of authority -- and not just in brown and black communities.

Militarization of police.

The Trump administration on Monday revived a federal program curtailed by former President Barack Obama that allows local police departments to receive surplus military equipment. source

In our modern police state status -- where the DOJ and president encourage the militarization of John Law -- far too many cops look and act like the thugs they were hired to serve and protect us from.

My fear.

This case of police abuse has enraged many in the heartland of America. People are demanding the officer be fired or criminally punished. Apologies have been offered. As reported, terms of engagement between nurses and cops have been further defined. But alas, is it too much, too little, too late to put the Genie back in the bottle.

Protecting Trump is breaking the Secret Service bank.

The Donald has a notorious -- and well earned -- reputation for his bling-bling spending habits.

His ostentatious and extravagant lifestyle -- even for a so-called billionaire --  has lead to numerous financial meltdowns.

His numerous bankruptcies, credit over-extensions, and failure to pay his contractors are all on public record.

So as POTUS, who expected 45 to transition into becoming the Frugal President? No one. But who would have thought he start breaking the bank in record time -- six months?

Mother Jones reports:

This morning, USA Today reported that the costs of protecting Trump and his children—and their penchant for far-flung travel—is straining the Secret Service to its limits.

The agency’s director, Tex Alles, told the paper that more than 1,000 agents have already hit their federally mandated overtime caps. Agents are limited, by law, to a cap of $160,000 for their salary and overtime pay. But, Alles said, despite the limits on paying agents, the agency has to continue protecting the president and his progeny.

“The president has a large family, and our responsibility is required in law. I can’t change that. I have no flexibility,” Alles told the paper.

But the president and his family do have control over their travel. Besides his trips to Europe and the Middle East on official business and his rallies around the country, President Trump has left the White House nearly every weekend since taking office—decamping to one of his private clubs, sometimes for days at a time. Each trip requires planes, helicopters, motorcades, and dozens of agents.

In May, conservative watchdog group Judicial Watch estimated that each hour Trump spends flying on Air Force One costs $142,000 and that each trip to Mar-A-Lago could cost taxpayers millions of dollars.

Rise of white national popularism

It doesn't take a political scientist to establish a direct correlation with the rise of white nationalism and the political rise of Donald Trump.

trump and the supremacist: Armed and dangerous

I haven't blogged in a minute. Writer's block. The elevation of #45 in these so-called United States has muted my voice. Word.

Even before the November election day, I was shook to my core that our country was seriously considering the most unfit candidate in the history of candidates to be elected president.
