Corey Booker goes HAM on Obama...then tries to walk it back

What I meant to say
Corey is in the Dog House...

I must admit, I have been impressed with Corey Booker's performance, rise and heroics  -- yes, heroics similar to the Caped Crusader, he risked life and limb to rescue a neighbor from a burning fire -- as mayor of Newark. Booker is indeed a rising star in the Democratic party.

Corey's  firestorm

But exactly what was he thinking when he went HAM on an Obama campaign ad, on NBC's Meet the Press, that legitimately scrutinized Mitt's Bain Capitol resume -- even fellow Republican Newt G. questioned Mitt's Bain Capitol record -- by comparing it to the negative Rev. Jeremiah Wright ads:

Newark Mayor Cory Booker, a Democrat and high-profile Obama supporter, said in an appearance on "Meet the Press" that he is "very uncomfortable" with an anti-Bain, anti-Romney ad campaign launched aggressively last week.
"If you look at the totality of Bain Capital's record they've done a lot to support businesses, to grow businesses. And this, to me, I'm very uncomfortable with," Booker said.
The Obama campaign has been trying to portray Romney and Bain as a band of corporate raiders out to maximize profits at the expense of workers and their families - not create jobs.
"This kind of stuff is nauseating to me on both sides," Booker said. "It's nauseating to the American public. Enough is enough. Stop attacking private equity. Stop attacking Jeremiah Wright. This stuff has got to stop, because what it does is it undermines, to me, what this country should be focused on."

The Republican National Committee pounced on Booker's comments, swiftly blasting them out by email with a video clip meant to highlight dissension within the Democratic ranks. source

Now, Mr. Booker, there are certain conversations you have behind closed doors, especially during an election year. And if you feel uncomfortable with the tactics or strategy of team Obama don't sign up for the job. Mitt  has fallaciously claimed to have created over 100,000 jobs at Bains. This makes finding the truth about Bains and Mitt fair game.

Mr. Booker, what is nauseating is if by continuing to beat the dead horse of Jeremiah Wright, team Obama is forced to examine the Mormon Church's extreme views on blacks:

For nearly 150 years, the Mormon Church had taught that ALL blacks were cursed. Hence, a black Mormon male could not hold the highly regarded LDS Priesthood1 because of his dark skin. And since he could not hold this Priesthood, he could not enter the Mormon Temple.  source

Corey walks back remarks

Shortly thereafter, Booker took to Twitter to try to clarify his remarks, saying in successive messages that he is tired of what he called a negative, divisive tone in politics - a sentiment he believes Obama shares.

"So I'll clarify my comments on MTP ["Meet the Press"]. Yes, Obama must be re-elected. But we as a Nation owe it to him & ourselves 2 reject politics as usual," he wrote.
But apparently Booker - or Obama campaign aides - felt that he didn't go far enough.
Later Sunday evening, Booker and the campaign circulated a brief impromptu web video of Booker further clarifying his comment directly to camera from behind an office desk.
"Mitt Romney has made his business record a centerpiece of his campaign. He's talked about himself as a job creator and therefore it is reasonable, and I encourage it, for the Obama campaign to examine that record and to discuss it," Booker says, clearly backpedaling from his earlier comments.
"I have no problem with that," he says. source

Damage done...Repair: Too much, too little, too late. Corey you are going to need to re-adorn you cape to rescue yourself from the Obama dog house.

  1. ell said. I think Mr. Booker is still a very impressive guy. Politics, politics, politics and it will continue until the election. Try not to be so serious. Obama and Romney will do these things as long as they think these things will get them VOTES.

Certainly many Black Americans will have a hard time voting for Romney. But I think the more interesting question is whether many Black Americans will stay home on election day.

  2. JT...Your round about way of saying that a lot of Africans don't vote is just another spewed example of your bigotry. You seem to think that you are an expert of African people. It would be better if you stayed in your lane. Stats say that just as many whites stay at home as do the black. You assumption smells of blatant racism. YO DUDE; GET A CLUE! John

  3. @JT...with a Tea Party takeover of the conservative movement and power; conservative Tea Party types in the Supreme Court - Scalia, Thomas & Roberts; conservative Tea Party legislators sabotaging our economic recovery; now is exactly the time to be serious.

  4. @John A...for the benefit of those that are not familiar with the racial undertones of previous posts of JT you may come off as an alarmist. But I am familiar with subtle and sly way JT attempts to introduce his bias.

However, in this case - whether he was injecting racism or not - he poses a relevant question: Are droves of blacks going to sit out this election year cycle because we have falsely led to believe he has not addressed our agenda?
