NRA: America needs more guns!

This past Friday, while the country held a moment of silence for the Newtown victims, the NRA -- in the person of spokesman Wayne LaPiere -- crawled out of it's fortified bunker to offer their insane solution to senseless American gun violence.

Their solution: more guns.

In his own words:

"Politicians pass laws for gun-free school zones, they issue press releases bragging about them," LaPierre said. "And, in doing so, they tell every insane killer in America that schools are the safest place to inflict maximum mayhem with minimum risk. How have our nation's priorities gotten so far out of order?

"Before Congress reconvenes, before we engage in any lengthy debate over legislation, regulation or anything else, as soon as our kids return to school after the holiday break, we need to have every single school in America immediately deploy a protection program proven to work," LaPierre said. "And by that, I mean armed security." source

In his bizarre presentation, LaPierre suggested that we turn our elementary schools into military zones. Even NRA card holding Republicans think this is dumb. As Gov. Christie of New Jersey stated:

Gov. Chris Christie said Friday that to post armed guards outside schools won’t make classrooms safer or encourage learning, and he warned against turning schools into armed camps.

For such a plan to be effective from a law enforcement perspective, the Republican governor said armed officers would have to be positioned outside every classroom, not just at the front entrance, because there are many ways to enter a school.

“You can’t make this (school) an armed camp for kids,” said the governor, who is a former federal prosecutor." source

After spending millions on buying politicians and lobbying against sensible gun laws, the NRA, now, continues to stroke the paranoia and fears of would be Dirty Harrys & Marys to the point of thinking they need household arsenals. After all, the only thing that truly matters for them is profit for gun manufacturers and not Second Amendment rights or the safety of American lives.
