Dennis Rodman: Secretary of the State?

North Korean 20 something leader, Kim Jong-Un, has been acting very menacing -- in a Dr. Strangelove sort of way. Mr. Kim has issued the dire threat: Time Has Come to Settle Accounts' with United States.

North Korea, in recent weeks, has threatened to launch a preemptive nuclear strike on the United States.
It is under various U.N. sanctions for its programs to develop nuclear weapons and ballistic missiles.

The reclusive and impoverished state is believed to have a small number of nuclear warheads but not the capability to effectively deploy them on long-range missiles.  source

With nukes or just nuke ambitions, Kim needs to be taken seriously. As US Secretary of Defense Chuck Hagel cautioned:

The defense secretary says officials “every provocative, bellicose word and action” of the young third-generation leader who came to power at the end of 2011 has to be taken seriously.

“We've seen some historical trajectory here on where North Korea occasionally will go to try to get the attention of the United States, to try to maneuver us into some position favorably to them, whether it's more assistance or bilateral engagement," he said. "But the fact is that this is the wrong way to go. The action that he's taken and the actions they've taken and the words he's used, it is not going to project a more responsible, accountable relationship.“ source

So, out of some Pulp Fiction story, NBA bad boy Dennis Rodman to the rescue. You heard right: straight from being fired on the Apprentice by Donald Trump (you can't make this ish up) Mr. Rodman has been tapped to have a face-to-face with Mr. Kim -- his new BFF.

Despite the country’s recent threats against the United States, Rodman says that he plans on returning to North Korea in August. But don’t worry…he knows what he’s doing; so he says.

“I’m not a total idiot,” Rodman tells the Miami Herald. “I know what Kim Jong Un is threatening to do regarding his military muscle. I hope it doesn’t happen because America will take whatever actions to protect America and our allies.”

The pair don’t have specific plans for Rodman’s next visit, but he appears to be pretty confident in his ability to squash any tensions between the two countries.

“I’ve been talking to folks for years who don’t get what I’m about, but that’s cool ’cause once they walk away they like me,” says Rodman. “I might be able to keep folks’ heads cool. We all [are] going to find a way to get along and keep peace. Peace and love is where it’s at.”  source
